Awareness session of the Inspection Department of the IHRA was arranged with the PNRA
An awareness session of the Inspection Department of the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (#IHRA) was arranged with the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (#PNRA) on Tuesday, 29th October 2024, at Regional Nuclear Safety Directorate (RNSD-I), PNRA office. The session included the functions, roles, and processes of PNRA, emphasizing its critical role and its efforts to ensure safety in healthcare.
During the session, PNRA officials provided IHRA officers with an overview of radiation facilities in Pakistan, specifically in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiotherapy. The discussion also covered essential radiation protection measures, such as the use of protective devices, various detectors for individual and personal monitoring, and inspection methodologies. Key topics also included an introduction to radiation, sources of ionizing radiation, everyday applications, benefits and hazards, and strategies for protection against ionizing radiation.
Both IHRA and PNRA expressed a strong commitment to ongoing collaboration to establish a safe environment for healthcare facilities, professionals, patients, and the general public. The shared efforts will focus on minimizing radiation exposure from medical equipment by implementing stringent safety protocols, monitoring radiation levels, and ensuring compliance with international standards.
