Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) has initiated the process of Licensing the Dental Healthcare Establishment in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
In this regard, the IHRA team visited Islamabad International Dental Hospital,  Islamabad, to inspect it as per the IHRA Dental Standards and Checklist.

Former minister Health Dr Zafar Mirza Visits IHRA Secretariat.This visit was aimed to promote awareness about public health issues. The former Minister discussed the importance of health and well-being, both at an individual and community level, and to promote collaboration between the public and private sectors. He emphasizes the role that businesses and organizations can play in supporting public health initiatives. Dr Zafar gave a talk about his book on seven habits of highly effective people. This visit also aimed at promoting awareness about public health issues. The former Minister discussed the importance of health and well-being, both at an individual and community level. He shared his experiences and advice related to professional development, career growth, and success in the healthcare sector. The purpose of this visit was to boost morale among staff.

A MOU signing ceremony was held at IHRA Secretariat for Technical Cooperation between Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority & The United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP). USP has been working in the USA for more than 220 years. However, in Pakistan. USP has been implementing activities since 2015 through the “Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus Program” funded by USAID. USP closely collaborates with the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation, & Coordination (MoNHSR&C), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), provincial health departments, and provincial healthcare commissions.

In collaboration with IHRA, NHS | NEQAS has organized a comprehensive workshop for laboratory personnel, focusing on the particulars of Quality Control in Laboratories. In a collaborative effort with IHRA, the workshop aimed to enhance the standards of laboratory practices, benefitting from the collective expertise of both entities. The workshop was graced by the presence of the CEO of IHRA as the chief guest. During his address, the CEO emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining and advancing quality control measures in laboratory settings. Adding another layer of expertise, IHRA Inspection Officers were also extended invitations, enriching the discussions with their insights. This collaborative effort created a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, emphasizing the shared commitment to advancing excellence in laboratory operations.

Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority has organized a one-day workshop/training session on “Safety of High Alert Medicines”

Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority has organized a one-day workshop/training session on “Safety of High Alert Medicines” based on guidelines notified by DRAP-Pakistan, in collaboration with Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad. The Healthcare professionals (Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses and Para-medical staff) from Hospital in Islamabad attended the said training.
The purpose is that the Healthcare Providers and Organization understand the safety requirements, develop a hospital-based policy on safe handling and use of High Alert Medicines and implement the best practices, so that patient harm can be prevented.
IHRA will continue such training in future. We will ensure that the hospitals trained establish a high alert medication system in their hospitals. This will reduce chances of medical errors in future.

Dr. Quaid Saeed, CEO, IHRA chaired the follow-up consultative meeting which was held at IHRA Secretariat  with Dental and Quality Experts from Dental Hospitals and Clinics in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to review the developed Dental Standards aligned with the guidelines of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua). The purpose of this meeting was to seek input and suggestions of the relevant experts based on their expertise and ground realities of their practices.

The seminar on “WorldPatientSafetyDay” was organized by WHO Country Office Pakistan in collaboration with M/oNHSR&C and in partnership with Rawalpindi Medical University under the theme of “Engaging Patients for Patient Safety” slogan of “Elevate the Voice of Patients” at Rawalpindi Medical University on Tuesday 26 September 2023. The Head of WHO Pakistan Dr Palitha Mahipala, Vice Chancellor Rawalpindi Medical University Dr Muhammad Umar, Deputy Director General Health M/oNHSR&C, Dr Ambreen Nadeem, Chaired the seminar and walk. CEO of Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority and senior stakeholders, hospital Directors, pharmacologists, and academia participated in the awareness walk and advocacy seminar on World Patient Safety Day 2023.

A meeting held at the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) with Dental and Quality Experts from Dental Hospitals and Clinics in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to review the Dental Standards developed aligned with the guidelines of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua). The purpose of this meeting was to seek input and suggestions of the relevant experts based on their expertise and ground realities of their practices.

Meeting with the owners/decision makers of all Rehab Centers registered with IHRA

Chief Executive Officer of Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) in coordination with District Administration, ICT invited for a meeting with the owners/decision makers of all Rehab Centers registered with IHRA. The agenda of meeting was to address the drug addiction issue among the beggars in ICT.
In the meeting, various issues and hardships faced by Drug Treatment Professionals in the field were discussed and presented to IHRA management and the District Administration. In response, IHRA and the District Administration assured the owners and decision-makers of all Rehab Centers that they would receive full-fledged support.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all the attendees agreed to provide beds free of charge for the drug addiction treatment of beggars, in response to the request made by IHRA management and the District Administration.
