Meeting with the owners/decision makers of all Rehab Centers registered with IHRA

Chief Executive Officer of Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) in coordination with District Administration, ICT invited for a meeting with the owners/decision makers of all Rehab Centers registered with IHRA. The agenda of meeting was to address the drug addiction issue among the beggars in ICT.
In the meeting, various issues and hardships faced by Drug Treatment Professionals in the field were discussed and presented to IHRA management and the District Administration. In response, IHRA and the District Administration assured the owners and decision-makers of all Rehab Centers that they would receive full-fledged support.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all the attendees agreed to provide beds free of charge for the drug addiction treatment of beggars, in response to the request made by IHRA management and the District Administration.

Meeting of healthcare commissions CEOs at IHRA

Meeting of CEOs of Health Care Commissions was held at IHRA Secretariat today. Several areas of collaboration among the sister agencies were discussed and it was agreed to collaborate in capacity building and knowledge sharing for improvement in the healthcare sector.

MOU signed between IHRA & QUAD A

In a step towards improving the standards of healthcare establishments in Islamabad Capital Territory, a MOU was signed between Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) and American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (QUAD A) at IHRA Secretariat. This MOU will allow IHRA to bring a truly global healthcare system in ICT through a strategic partnership with QUAD A.

Workshop for Infection, Prevention & Control Organised by IHRA

Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority along with National Institute of Health and Riphah Institute of Healthcare Improvement & Safety observed International Infection Prevention week (IIPW) & a workshop for healthcare professionals was conducted in this regard. The IIPW theme for this year is “The Future is Infection Prevention: 50 Years of Infection Prevention”.

Workshop on Medication Safety organised on World Patient Safety Day

‘World Patient Safety Day’ is observed each year on 17th September, the theme for this year is ‘Medication without Harm’. To commemorate World Patients Safety Day this year, Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) in collaboration with NIH, RIHIS, PHC and HealthRAB organised a Workshop on ‘Medication Safety’. The workshop was aimed at raising awareness about patient safety and minimizing patients harm in healthcare establishments. Representatives from public & private establishments of Islamabad Capital Territory participated in the workshop.

Training of Healthcare Professionals on AMR stewardship

To combat the use and misuse of antimicrobials by healthcare practitioners; a training workshop was organized at IHRA secretariat in collaboration with DAI Fleming Fund.  The three-day Training of Healthcare Professionals on AMR stewardship covered 3 different modules; AMR Fundamentals, Evidence-based Treatments and Infection Prevention & Control. Representatives from different public and private sector hospitals of Islamabad participated in the training. The interactive training sessions were aimed at helping healthcare professionals to combat antimicrobial resistance in an effective manner.

MOU signed between (IHRA) and Fleming Fund Country Grant Pakistan

Antibiotic use in Pakistan has increased by 65% over the last 16 years.   The misuse and overuse of antimicrobials by health practitioners has increased resistance in humans, which has resulted in severe illness and even death. To address this problem in Islamabad, DAI – Fleming Fund Country Grant Pakistan and the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) together. With this MOU, IHRA will also be able to regulate and enforce the minimum standards of safety for patients, healthcare professionals and other staff in healthcare establishments, in relevance to AMR, in the Islamabad Capital Territory. This MOU will allow interventions in 5 public and private hospitals in Islamabad. The healthcare professionals and administrators of the selected hospitals will be trained in AMR concepts and the importance of AMR stewardship.

IHRA attended ICQ Advisory Board Meeting

CEO IHRA, Dr Quaid Saeed attended ICQ (International Consortium of Quality Assurance) Advisory board meeting at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The three day conference activities were within the framework of ISSUP’s 7th Annual Event ‘Uniting the Global Community to face the Challenge of Addiction’. It was organised in collaboration with National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) of Abu Dhabi and the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP).
