IHRA sealed seven healthcare establishments over different malpractices

ISLAMABAD: In the last one-month Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) has conducted a total of 112 inspections in Islamabad. Due to grave irregularities found in the functioning of certain healthcare establishments the Authority sealed seven Healthcare Establishments (HCEs) in different areas of ICT.

Those that were sealed consist of Rawat Clinic, VIP Clinic, Medsol collection point, Family Hospital, Yousafzai Medical Center, Muqdas Dental Clinic (Saleem Dental Care), Rasheed Hospital. They were sealed for different offenses including not getting registration with IHRA, unhygienic conditions, absence of proper waste management system, illegally broking official seal, functional during suspension and unqualified staff rendering medical services.

Similarly, IHRA suspended the services of four Healthcare Establishments (HCEs) over different medical noncompliance. These were Yasmeen Family Clinic Rawat, Islamabad Medicare Labs and Specialist Clinics, Fatima Dental Care, Gulf Addiction Treatment Center & Psychiatric Care.

78 Healthcare Establishments were served notices for minor non-compliances and instructed to comply with the directions given by the inspections team. 16 HCEs were found closed during inspections carried out by inspection teams. 07 Healthcare Establishments (HCEs) were recommended for registration and revocation of suspension.

IHRA inspection teams also conducted inspections of blood banks to see their functioning as per the standards of blood banking. Those that were inspected included Medicsi Bahria Town,

Blood Bank Services, Al Nafees Hospital, Ahmed Blood Bank. Directives were issued to all regarding the findings and areas of improvement.
